Sponsors To become a sponsor, you need to speak directly with Fr. John F. X. Palatucci, the parish pastor.
It is an honor and a privilege to be asked to serve as someone’s godparent or confirmation sponsor. Sponsors are asked not only to take part in a ceremony that connects and strengthens a person’s bond with the Holy Spirit, but also to help guide the child along the right path in life that leads them to God’s ever-loving embrace. Selecting a suitable sponsor can be challenging. The church has specific criteria that sponsors must meet to act as godparents or confirmation sponsors, as sponsorship entails certain duties and responsibilities.
Godparents chosen for a Baptism pledge to reject Satan, believe in God and the Church, and guide the child toward faith and devotion. Participants in Confirmation commit to supporting and guiding the candidate, helping them mature, face life's challenges, and strengthening their faith. On both occasions, a sponsor promises to guide and influence another person, taking responsibility for their spiritual growth and serving as a role model of faith.
